Everything you have posted here is absolutely helpful for all people who have insomnia.
I guess the two things I would add are:
- deal with your life problems. Life problems come to visit us at night. Some life problems cannot be resolved in a day or even a life time. But if we never face up to them, they always come to visit us and keep us awake.
- tell myself that my recovery is better than it could possibly be. If pessimism and anxiety help cause insomina than I believe that optimism and even over optimism is the antidote. After all, how badly we feel emotionally is a function of how we perceive events in life. If we look at events in a positive way (and even fib about how good somethings are), then how can we help but feel good about things.
