Need help getting off sleeping pill

Posted by sfjlc on February 13, 2006 at 14:06:49:

Just stumbled across this web site and hope someone can help me. I am wrestling with a serious addition to sleeping pills (including using Ambien or Dalmane with some wine to make them work better) and am looking for advice on how to kick the habit. If you've wrestled with this issue in your own life, could you please offer some tips on the best way to stop? For example: do you recommend trying to ease off, or does going cold turkey work better? Also, how easy it to cope with a day at work if you truly not slept the night before? Do you really fall asleep anyway, or is my fear that I will be awake all night really happen? Any advice would be helpful ... this has gotten completely out of control and I have no notion of where to go for help.
