Tom-

I respect all of your input on this board, but I have to heartily disagree with you on the sleep maintenance issue, at least for me. I have never had onset problems, only maintenance problems. And I solved them by addressing the sources of anxiety and stress in my life. I've always been healthy and eat a pretty darn good diet compared to most Americans. I was perplexed at first about how anxiety could wake me up in the middle of the night, but now I'm a firm believer. I left a job and a bad relationship and now I'm sleeping almost normally again.

I think anxiety can cause all kinds of sleep problems, by keeping your brain hyperaroused so that it can't really fall into deep sleep. I've had lifelong struggles with anxiety and I can testify first hand that it can DEFINITELy cause sleep maintenance problems.
