Posted by kellypoo on February 14, 2006 at 14:25:25:I was started on lexapro for anxiety (and associated insomnia) and it works-- TOO WELL. I cannot wake up during the day. I switched to taking the lexapro at night, but I still am dragging my butt through the day. I can take a 1.5 hour nap and still not feel refreshed (I never used to nap, either). this is hard for me b/c I am in an intensive medical program (where the anxiety/sleep disorder kicked into high gear) and I have to be alert to learn, study, etc. now the doc wants me to try provigil during the day to wake up. this scares me and reminds me of the old days of docs screwing people up with seconol to sleep and amphetamines to wake up.
I have not started the provigil and am thinking instead of getting off the lexapro altogether -- and just starting rozerum for sleep. does anyone have experience with these drugs and these sorts of side effects? also, can rozerum be used long-term? I used to use ambien but my doc doesn't want me on it long-term. btw -- my insomnia is an ongoing problem secondary to anxiety, thanks ;)
