I can't sleep well

Posted by Kid Uno on February 15, 2006 at 21:55:29:

OK. What happens is this:

I wake up at 5:30 every morning for work. I go to work and am tired. I usually perk up after I eat something at work about 9ish and after lunch as well.

Then later that afternoon, I'm usually tired again. I go home and *boom* I'm not tired at all. Then I can't get to sleep till about 11ish somewhere in there....even if I'm dead tired (which I am later at night). About 12ish or 1ish I start to wake up. This happens sometimes on the hour 3 or 4 times a night, sometimes 3 times a night at random hours, etc.

Half the time when I wake up I lay there and it's like I'm so tired I can't sleep and don't go back to sleep for maybe a good half-hour or longer.

When I can't get to sleep, my brain won't shut off. I just can't stop thinking about various things.

I'm not really under a great deal of stress, besides the fact I can't seem to find a girlfriend and I sort of want one (I'm 19....) and it's like I always wake up early for fear of oversleeping. Also I suppose the stress of not getting enough sleep keeps me awake too. Those are like the only stresses I deal with in my daily routine.

I haven't really tried sleeping pills much, but when I have they seem to stick with me in the morning, which is a problem.

I went to bed very early on Tuesday because I had a late night planned for tonight and got maybe about....2 hours of sleep on and off because I kept waking up (this was in the early evening). Then I went to sleep again later that night and had the same problem of waking up this morning.

I rarely get much sleep on weekends because I'm always out doing stuff, so it's understandable why I'm always tired in the week....but when I want to sleep I can't.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
