I feel for you. About five years ago, I had an addiction to ambien. It's very difficult to stop but it is much better for you - ambien is a dangerous drug, no control on your life type of drug, especially if you have loved ones to care for and you can't when that drug makes you comatose.

I stopped and didn't sleep for five nights. After that I fell asleep and went from there, slowly recovering.

I read when I get into bed for the night and it helps. I ALWAYS tell myself that the day is done and for now there is nothing else that matters or can be done until morning so better to sleep.

I occasionally take valerian, in gel or licaps, and it works. Only occasionally as it does make you dream a lot. I had heard from farmers where I live that many still use valerians to calm their mares and I was surprised to find that it does work, provided you take the tincture, and not just the caps. It works just as well as any tranquilizer.

Good luck, if you have access to the ambien, it's going to be difficult. I was cut off by my doctor, and too afraid to order controlled substances online, so I had to stop. And very very grateful that I did before I had a serious accident or caused one. I did hurt myself on ambien, I fell once, but my injuries were slight, still what a warning sign that was!!!

I wish you much courage in doing what is the best for yourself and for those you love.
