Just a note..when I went to a sleep clinic, they said NOTHING to me about CBT...sleep restriction was their thing.
Most therapists should be doing some form of CBT these days, as it's considered "evidence-based treatment". I am a therapist by trade and this is the current treatment of choice for many disorders. Ask your doctor for a referral, call the person, and ask about CBT. If they say, "what?", hang up and call another.
CBT involves more than just talking. You will isolate your distorted thoughts (eg, "I must sleep or I will fall apart") and replace them with more helpful ones ("it would be nice to sleep tonight but I know I can function even if I don't"). Say Goodnight to Insomnia is a good starter book about how to apply CBT to sleep.
