I found sleep restriction to be only a small component of my recovery. It helps you re-establish the fact that you have the ability to sleep. Many insomniacs get to a point where they feel that they have absolutely no ability to predict when they are gonna sleep. With sleep restriction, you have a pretty sure way of overcoming sleep onset issues. However, insomnia normally occurs because there are things that are life issues going on. Sleep restriction doesn't address life issues nor does it help a person perceive life issues in a healthy and positive fashion.
