Yes, it seems like it works better for people with onset issues, which I never had; I only had maintenance issues. Plus I have an advanced sleep phase (I go to bed at 9) and they wanted me to try to push that back...it seemed very silly indeed to be fighting to stay awake when I knew I could be sleeping. I got completely overwhelmed with the idea that I had to sleep the entire restricted period for two whole weeks before I could go to bed 15 minutes earlier!! And all that journaling fueled my obsession. I finally just quit it and got better with the "Tom N Texas method".

It does seem to be useful to some people...unfortunately, the clinic I went to had a one-size fits all mentality. And they made no effort to work CBT with me at all, which would have helped me immensely.
