no, wait......it wasn't so quick!!!! It was 2 weeks after I reached my therapeutic dose which was 100 mg. Zoloft, like other SSRI's (Paxil, Lexapro etc) have to be started on low doses and incremented gradually. I personally started at 25 mg, stayed on thet dose for a week, then increased to 50, then 75, then 100. I saw no improvement of any kind until I got to the right dosage which for me was 100 but it can vary from person to person. My anxiety started feeling better once I got to that dose which took 4 weeks, but I still had insomnia. It took another 2 weeks for the insomnia to go away so 6 weeks altogether. I was actually on Ativan (1-2 mg)throughout the whole post-partum depression ordeal which lasted a good 4 months and I was able to stop taking it without weaning. The key was having a good doctor who managed my situation well and reassured me I would not get addicted to the medication (Ativan that is, I was terrified of the whole benzo addiction thing) because I was using it responsibly and that I would be able to easily get off it once I got my anxiety under control.
Good luck with your appointment, there is hope!!
