My sister had an excellent response to Lexapro, too, which is a cousin to Effexor..helped her sleep almost right away, in combination with Xanax for a few nights. You have to give them time to work the full amount, but some people find some benefit right away. She feels much less anxious on it.

This is a good example of how much medication can benefit people if they do have underlying anxiety disorders...it isn't just a "crutch" or a "dependency", it has real benefit.
