Moonatic-
Patience is the key...I had a rough week last week due to some stressors, but rode it out with a lot of "this too shall pass" and I slept great last night, and the night before, while I was in a hotel room bed with my 7-year-old niece, who was flopping around like a fish all night. I still slept well. If that isn't progress, I don't know what is! :)
By the way, that "you must get up at the exact same time every day on the dot" is not true for everyone. I get up within an hour or two of the same time, and it works for me. Everyone is different, there is not a right way. I found that if I slept in a bit (not for hours) that it helped me a lot psychologically, which reduced the obsessing and worry.
You are on the right track, just don't give in to the negativity.
