Insania: I found that the doctors I talked to were willing to prescribe Ativan. However, some of them would only give me 60 at a time without refills, i.e., the drug store would have to call it in each time I was out of them. What was I to do with them? Sell them on the street corner. I would just explain that they have worked very well for you and you would rather stay on them. Lunesta and Ambien are really just for a short term use, even though some people are taking them for a lengthy period of time. Some doctors are more understanding than others. I had a nice shrink who would let me try several different medications. He also let me try an antidepressant along with the Ativan and it has been helpful. there are several but the one he gave me was Doxepin. I have great respect for these drugs and I have never taken more than I was allowed to. I think this would be an important statement to a doctor to make them understand that you are responsible. good luck with that. Casablanca
