I think you're right about the puppy thing. My sleeping is improving the past week in the sense that I'm taking less ambien (feeling more tired though as my sleep seems lighter without the drug-?rebound insomnia), but I'm afraid getting a puppy will start the whole thing up again. Getting a large dog isn't an option given the allergies of my son (needs a non sheddding breed) and I really don't have the room or fenced yard a large dog requires. This is the kind of thing about insomnia that gets me so angry....it makes me feel abnormal in that I can't alter my life in so many ways for fear of stirring up the insomnia monster again. It's like a cancer in a way.....you may feel "cured", but if one cell (negative thought) is left behind, it has the potential to spread and wreak havoc again.
