Have you thought about contacting a sleep disorder clinic? I saw a special on TV that talked about a sleep disorder, in which a person has to rock themselves to sleep. There may be a connection and it is a brain abnormalily. There is treatment for the rocking and maybe with the headbanging. I have heard of headbanging, but I am unsure of the treatment for it.
