New Medications for Sleeping

Hi, I just discovered this web site. I've had insomnia for close to 4 years. I've been taking Temazepam(spelling?)for close to 3 years and now I find it no longer works. I fall soundly asleep for at least 4 hours and then wake up every hour or so until morning. My doctor recently prescribed Trazadone. I took 100 mg. last night and still I woke up after 4 hours and am currently exhausted. Do you think it's because Temazapam is addictive and since I did not take this medication, I am getting withdrawal symptoms. Also, how long will it take for this Trazadone to kick in. Last night was my first night with 100 mg of Trazaone only. For the past week I've taken one Temazapam and one Trazadone.
I hope I've made sense and can get some advise. I am currently so tired I'm not thinking straight.
