Valerian/Kava Kava side effects?

i have just tried taking One-A-Day Bedtime & Rest, their Specialized Blend line, sometimes for my insomnia, which is a mixture of Valerian and Kava Kava. but i wake up with the worst headache...is this a common side effect of Valerian and Kava Kava? thanks!
