I just want to share here that last Sunday night I took an Ambien for the first time and, of course, I did not take any Ativan, which I had been on for years. Both the Doc and the pharmacist told me that there would be no problem in stopping the 1 mg Ativan and taking the 6.5 Ambien CR. I was concerned about that. However, I have to say, my experience was not a good one. I could not fall asleep until early morning. I felt really bad, really out of it, last Monday.

I noticed that I was very anxious taking the Ambien. Maybe it is my attitude toward taking it that made me so anxious.

Obviously, all these drugs have different effects on different people.

It was such a bad experience that I did not want to take it again. Justing thinking about it made me nervous.

A year ago I tried Lunesta once. I was sort of dozing all night and I felt terrible, like Frankenstein, the next morning. That was enough for me to throw the things out. It was that awful.

So what I am getting at is that even if the different drug works, it is understandable that our bodies and brains would be reacting to the change.

Perhaps once should give the new drug a few days to work properly. For me, after a bad experience, I just don't want to do it again.

And this, of course, encourages me to focus on what is going on in my head regarding the insomnia and working on that. Through all these years I have learned that the answer does not lie in Lunesta or Ambien.
