I tried melatonin..it seemed to work at first, but then it stopped and it made my stomach upset. There is no guarantee that melatonin is any safer than any other medication, perhaps less so, because it isn't controlled and hasn't really been studied much. I've stuck with antidepressants because I feel confident in their long-term safety, but that's just my take on it and others have different opinions.
