The anxiety is the big problem when it comes to insomnia, and that is what keeps us insomniacs! I have always been a very anxious person, unfortunately it is in the genes. I have found (and everyone is different), that after my doctor prescribed a low dose of Zoloft, my anxiety has decreased dramatically, therefore relieving my insomnia. I have to say that some people are opposed to medication, and are sceptical about Zoloft, as insomnia is a side effect, but it has worked for me. It has dulled the anxiety, and this allows me to be calmer and think more rationally. The best thing is that it doesn't make me groggy, and no one would even know that I was taking it. Remember that many people take medications for all different anxiety disorders. Anxiety can be caused by a chemical in balance in the brain so sometimes requires treatment through medication. You don't need to take it for ever but if you stay on it for 1-2 years, you may never need it again. What people fail to do is ride out the settling in period in order for it to take it's full affect. I am not saying that medication is the answer for you, but if you haven't tried it then maybe look into it.
