In my experience...no. I saw a hypnotherapist/PhD therapist who was recommended by two very reliable sources. He said it would take 5-6 sessions to know if it would help. I was able to get in a trance there easily but it didn't help my sleep. I really wanted it to help and tried hard but it was just one more thing to stress about. I went for about 9 times and then gave up and went on Buspar. That's still not helping either but I need to give it more time and tweak my dosage. The hypnotist said it works about 50% of the time for insomnia...just not for me. My insurance covered it because he was a therapist so the $$ wasn't a problem.
