Posted by sleephawk on October 16, 2006 at 14:14:17:After years of chasing down every lead in sleep aids, I have yet to find any herbs that perform as advertised. My experience with valerian has me especially puzzled. It acts very much like speed. Among all the hype on valerian, I finally read that it has this effect in about 15 percent of the population, and have seen similar provisos elsewhere.
This makes me wonder how many other reputed "calming" herbs would have a similar adverse effect on my group. Also, what is it about us that causes this opposite effect? If we could find an answer to that question, we might get some insight into solving our sleep problem.
