Every so often I like to state my case here on the forum about bright light therapy. It has made such a big difference in my life and I just need to share this with everyone. I had been there and done all that with the meds. I decided on light therapy when the psychiatrist told me to increase the dose of Paxil from 20 mg. to 30. I am only in my 50's and I didn't know what would happen to my med dose when I reached my 70's. I was on also taking Xanax at one time and every so often I take a Klonopin now, however, I am only down to 5 mg. of Paxil and that is it. The bright light has afforded me to get off all my meds. The research that is on the internet about it is phenomenol. Just like an antidepressant (which is what it really is) you must wait a couple of weeks until it takes effect. Last week I was on the West Coast and I developed some jet lag. I started my light therapy again on Sunday before work, but only slept 4 hours. I am on the road to recovery again, since I am sure my circadian rythym was thrown off. Last night I slept 5 hours and I am hoping it gets better as time goes on. No more meds for me!
