I guess I am scared that I will feel so awful that I won't be able to act normally and people will be able to tell. I am also upset because I want to enjoy the event, and now that I can't sleep, I won't enjoy, but will just be going along for the act of it. This particular event that I'm talking about, I have to walk somewhere that's more than 1 hour away because there will be so much congestion on the roads, it doesn't pay to drive or take public transportation. I'm worried that I will be so shot, that I won't be able to handle the walk. And once I'm there, I'm worried that it will drag out too long, and that it will be hard to get home (taking public transportation home) and I will be desperate to get home to crash, but I'll be stuck at this place.
Not all events can be cancelled and anyway if I would end up cancellling, then I would feel worse afterwards that insomnia is ruining my life.
also, you say that you tell yourself that you won't get as much sleep. Well my insomnia has taken different forms over the years, but in this most recent bout, once I don't fall asleep right away, I'm basically up all night. There's no falling asleep at 3am and sleeping 'til the morning. If I do manage to fall asleep on the couch, I keep on waking up.
