Optimistic,

My doc tells me to take naps so I do. Most of my problem is physiological...I have adrenal fatigue problems so the adrenals don't make the necessary hormones for sleep..I also got my neurons...cell receptors burned out by taking so many kinds of sleep meds. (note: 5-htp is especially deadly for this I found out) I do not take anything except inositol and phosphatidylserine (nutrients...not drugs)

At work I lie down in a special chair in a remote part of the plant where I work for a while in the afternoon.

I go to bed early and rest most of the night...stage 1 sleep. Some nights I actually get 2 or 3 hrs of REM sleep. I find that resting as much as I can enables me to function. I take walks, I do sit-ups and a few arm exercises. I drink a lot of water and take an herbal laxative from time to time to clean out the system...very important to stay detoxed as the liver and kidneys take a lot of load when you don't get delta sleep. I also take Alpha Lipoic Acid and Milk Thistle and vitamin C to help the liver too.

I meditate and listen to music to relax. It's been a lot of work to stay on an even keel emotionally which is very important. Some days I don't succeed but am getting better at it.

It is survivable like this. Yes, I'd say a lot of life is curtailed..not as much social life as I'd like but I'm maximizing what I have and feel grateful for that! I thank you also for your testimony Optimistic...I don't feel so alone with this now.
