so tired it hurts

Ok, here goes:

I've had sleep disorder for 18 years (non-restorative, no stage 3 and 4), and my main complaint is how sleep deprived i feel during the day. You name it, i've tried it (and still am trying things)--CBT, meds, therapy, sleep lab testing, etc.; I'm currently on klonopin and remeron at night, and have been so for several years. Nothing much has changed, but i have a question:

Do other people get so tired during the day (happens gradually) that their eyes burn, hurt, and all they want to do is close them, and if possible, go to sleep? I want to tear my hair out--It's not a lazy, fatigued feeling, but a feeling that i've been up for 3 days and my head is so tight and eyes so burning that i have to close them. No, it's not headaches...It's just a beyond-tired feeling. It's so bad that i'd actually rather close my eyes standing up, than lie down and keep them open. Arggh! If i can sleep just a wink, i feel a bit refreshed. If i continue to stay up, i eventually start feeling 'numb' in my body and head, though the discomfort becomes more intense--if that's possible!

I'm just wondering if i'm overly sensitive to feeling tired, or if this is a normal feeling of being sleep deprived. Thanks for any replies!!
