I think you're getting yourself unnecessarily worked up when the reality is that many new mothers suffer terrible sleep deprivation. Unfortunately, it seems to go with the territory.
Easier said than done, but if you can take a few deep breaths and calm down a bit, it would help your sleep a lot.
As for hypnotherapy, I tried it and it was extremely successful for me, in that I slept through the night, a full eight hours, for two straight weeks. (Then something else happened and my anxiety kicked in and I lost confidence in my sleep again, but those two weeks really demonstrated to me that I could -- on my own -- generate great sleep!)
