I think getting your own room is a great move. This past summer I shared a room with a friend for a wedding we went too. It turns out the hotel booked us a room with only one queen size bed, so we had to share the bed. I had huge anxiety when I saw this. They were booked full so we couldn't change rooms. We are both bad sleepers, so neither of us got much sleep!
Also, I am in the process of buying a mattress and it is hard to do these days with all the options. I am on mattress number 3 from Sears and this is the final chance. They allow 3 exchanges. First was a 3 inch pillow top plush and too soft for my back. Then I got a firm bed with a one inch pillow top, too firm. Now I am getting a Simmons Back Care bed, 2 inch pillowtop, medium firmness. And measure how high off the ground you want your bed to be. Some of them are really high. 25 to 26 inches is OK. My first one was 30 inches and I had to JUMP to get into it! A good mattress is very important to reducing back pain and getting a good sleep.
