I've been suffering from chronic insomnia from the past 10 months. I feel sleepy at night but when I lay down to sleep it feels like blood rushes to my brain and my sleepiness disappears. It started with waking up after about 3-4 hours of sleep but during the past 3 months, I could not get any sleep at all. I have consulted my doctor and he has given me Imovane and Oxazepam. We have tried several medicines but only these two worked. Nowadays, even Oxazepam doesn't work at times. Imovane can make me sleep but the side effects are terrible, I feel drowsy and have headaches in the afternoon. My doctor said this kind of insomnia is kind of prevalent on my age bracket (43). I am not depressed and not in any pressure from work. I exercise and my work requires a lot of walking. I'm just terrified to think that I will be in this kind of condition for the rest of my life.
Is this kind of problem caused by any physically disorder which maybe more serious? Are there beter solutions than just taking sleeping pills? Which medicine can you suggest which is effective but does not cause too much side effects? Any sugestion will be very helpful.
Thanks,
CantSleepMan
