I shouldn't and can't give you medical advice. But in addition to checking out medical issues it would make sense to continue to work work on anxiety.

From reading here and the books suggested here, you know that you are not going to die from insomnia. In fact my experience is that I have not been physically affected much except for feeling tired. I haven't had more colds or other physical problems.

Mental is another thing. Not sleeping depresses me and makes me feel weak. It is frightening and for a while there I felt I was doomed. But slowly, I am pulling out. I believe now that if I am tired enough, I will sleep. I also know that I can function even when I get little sleep.

This has helped me to let go. And also has allowed me to stop taking sleep medicine. I now believe this caused me many more problems than any help I got. Some here are helped but I am not.

The best I can offer you is give yourself a chance. Continue your exercise program, although I would suggest doing some closer to bedtime. When you go to bed, try to distract yourself. Visualize peaceful scenes. Relax your body. Change your self-talks to positive ones. One that helps me is to think that even if I can't sleep, just resting in bed helps me. Optimism is extremely important. Think positive thoughts. If you find you are still getting upset, just get up and do something relaxing while keeping lights dim, and then go back to bed to give yourself another chance.
