As you all know from my posts, I have been strictly following Dr. Jacobs' book the last eight-10 weeks with great success.

I really felt that I was making strides and getting better. I had several weeks of "knowing" that I would sleep when going to bed. It was such a joy. No anxiety. I said to myself: this is life as I once knew it!

Then the nearby country fair set off some of their fireworks around the time I go to bed. I had to get up because I didn't want to lie around waiting for the next one to happen which did come and a fourth one.I started to having problems again and haven't been able to go to sleep since.

I thought I was on the road to licking this thing. This often happens: I am having a good stretch, something happens that disturbs my shaky sleep system, and I am back in what I call "the hole."

I am so sad. I seem to have lost all the confidence. I had a miserable week just trying to get to work and getting it over with.

I have read the book three times. It doesn't seem to have the same effect on me anymore, even though I will try and read it one more time.

One thing Dr. Jacobs doesn't say anything about. When you reduce sleep meds. during his six weeks, etc. what do you do when you are having difficulty sleeping? He says not to go back to the old drug intake. This is the tought part for me.

I am always hoping that my confidence and good sleep will get to a point when I can slowly let go of the meds. This, however, does not happen.

The hard thing is, when you are having a tired day (plus anxiety about the next night) you are in a weakened emotional state and it would be extremely tough to keep going to bed without taking sleep meds when you have a bunch of bad nights.

Yet I think he is the best book out there. Any thoughts? I will do another round with the book and pray. Casablanca
