Hi Casablanca,
I really feel for you. This is how I am. I think that I have put it behind me then it all starts again - it really does dint your confidence.
I have read Dr Jacobs book four times but I find that if I read it when I am anxious, it makes the anxiety worse.
Have you read any of Dr Claire Weekes books on nervous tension? These have been useful for me - she says to accept the anxiety - float past it - and let time pass.
I have recently given up my job to get myself better. My health is more important to me now. I threw away my sleeping tablets and have been without them for 7 nights. My mood is very low at the moment but know that I will stick this out. Life is too short to live from night to night hoping that this will be the one where you sleep 7 hours in one go.
This is what it has been like for me each night:
1) slept 2am to 5am
2) quite a good night
3) no sleep at all - anxious all night
4) not much sleep half an hour here & there but no anxiety & relaxed
5) good night - woke every 2 hours
6) restless night not much sleep but no anxiety
7) low mood during day - no sleep at all - anxious until 3am
At the moment I would be quite satisfied to sleep 11pm to 4am.
Hope it comes soon,
all the best
