hi everybody,
I found this forum 7 years ago when I started having my insomnia, but never posted till now. I would like to share my experiences with everybody.
I remember the first weeks of insomnia, I was 18 then, I remember being so afraid of bedtime, i would lie in bed all nervous and anxious that sometimes I would go 3 days with less than 4hrs of sleep.Sometimes I would lie in bed at night crying. Ive always been able to sleep at anytime before that. That was a really hard time for me I could still remember. Doctor gave me diezapam which I took and had hellucinations and stuff and i vowed not to take pills anymore.
Thats when I found this forum, and it really did wonders, I felt more relaxed that many people too were going through the same struggle that i am suffering.
After 9 months of struggling with insomnia, mostly lying in bed for more than 2 hrs before falling asleep, I got used to it...anxiety soon faded as I told myself 'Hey, if I sleep, thats good, If i dont...thats the way its gonna be'
Started sleeping better after that.

Point 1 - Truth is, for me, major factor of not getting to sleep is the anxiety u face when u cant get to sleep.

After that, I went to army for 2 yrs and insomnia was very rare. I could only deduce from this that.

Point 2 - Physical exercise do wonders for sleep!

Point 3 - Also, along the way I realised that if u cant sleep, lying in bed will only make it worse, get up.....walk around, eat something...get fully awake...then try sleeping again. Sometimes It helps.

now im 25, Im still in university and I still suffer from insomnia.

This is what I do when I get insomnia nowadays

Point 4 - If I cant sleep or have difficulty sleeping for more than 2 days straight. I stay awake for one night, you gotta force yourself and its tough. And go to bed at lets say 10pm and wake up at 7am. Stick to this even if I fall asleep at 2am......I force myself to wake at 7.....after 2 nights or so.....I will be sleeping well.

I still suffer from insomnia, mostly the nights before exams or before trips, I would not be able to sleep.

Im not sure whether there is a cure for insomnia, but if you learn to live with it, its really alright.

I personally dont take pills, dont like to be dependent on a drug. NO offence.

I hope this helps someone out there. Just gotta relax, thats the key to resting well.

I hope everybody here gets a good rest and best of luck in your struggles.

It was during
