I live in clean green NZ. Before turning 40 I had perfect health but our Government first approved the aerial spraying of painted apple moth and then the "allowable" dose of aerial spray was tweaked upwards. I am "collateral damage" from that spraying operation and have made some shocking discoveries that I am not alone. The true stories I have uncovered sometimes end with people taking their own lives. Now I am 43 and have lived 3 years chemically sensitive to agricultural sprays. We have a controversial practitioner here who administers remedies - he is skilled at using his machine to diagnose which spray a person has contracted and then gives the appropriate remedy. This is not a cure it just means the chronic insomnia and head bucking settles. If Iam free of spray I can sleep now for 5 hours/night but that is unusual because spray abounds. Mainly I sleep 1 to 2 hours from 6 - 8am. Nothing ever gets resolved because 85% of all sprays used by anyone in a commercial or home gardening context become spraydrift which is efficiently borne by the wind as much as 20kms on a windy day and stays in the air for 12 hours minimum. We can't see it and generally don't smell it. Bingo insomnia again, again and again. Children, pregnant women and immuno suppressed can show overt symptoms like insomnia, eczema etc., the rest just get cancer, parkinsons etc. People in NZ are also placing automated insectidal spray cans in their homes with contents touted as being "entirely natural" - these cans are causing respiratory problems, making hearts speed and propelling xeno-oestrogen product into the home. Whilst on my own senseless and painful journey I also discovered electricity through a power cord emits a field of gamma radiation which it turns out I am extra sensitive to. Great when using a computer with a hard drive! Always think please people especially parents about putting your child's bedhead against the wall of a room butting up to a room containing a computer or TV on standby or even a meter box on an outside wall because a) sleep will be compromised and b) you are fast tracking your child/loved one towards a brain tumour. That's it in a nutshell. I want to work, want to move my body, have hopes and dreams but the World is passing me by outside because I don't have energy. I try and work for myself every so often but the constant pesticide, herbicide exposures and ensuing insomnia have really done a number on my energy - before today I was the quinessential fidget and always on the move. Oh and I can't eat foods with additives and that includes wines. When I first keyed my symptoms into a Google search the diagnosis was Gulf War Syndrome - how hilarious. Now it turns out the soldiers returning to US with this syndrome are in fact those who have potentially been exposed to weapons of chemical warfare - another name for herbicide and pesticide which evolved from the recipes for chemical weapons of old. It doesn't pay to say that out loud though - imagine the compensation issues. Try and imagine the issues involved if the public en masse got together to sue chemical makers. I strongly recommend Rachel Carson's book "Silent Spring". Tips for weeds: Use hot water and salt on your weeds, remember weeds can be upturned with the roots exposed and worms will love it and nurture your soil. Keep your childen and your unborn children safe. If you really want to research check out Epigenetics - spray exposures of pregnant women and boys reaching puberty cause generational ill health. I will wait to see what happens to the children of the lads who were waiting for school buses in my neighbourhood when the moth spray covered us - even then I don't think anyone will listen. I tried to phone the Govt Department's hotline to stop them spraying the children but got told the pilot was taking advantage of the fine weather. Finally I apologise if this posting sounds a bit of a rant, none of it is borne of mis-advice or lack of intellect , I am tired but I haven't yet taken the pharmaceutical drugs the GP's try to dole out as I don't want to be dumbed down - no offence to those on the drugs. I am sure in the near future I too will have to take pills as I am now too tired to fight.
