Desyrel is trazodone...very commonly used in low doses to help with sleep. I take 25 mg of it myself (the dose for depression is around 200 mg, I believe). Are you opposed to going back on it since it worked so well for you in the past? It might help to stabilize your sleep pattern and then you can get off of it again...just a thought. Better for you than alcohol, though the diphenhydramine is fine to take every day, if that works (but not WITH the alcohol).

What are your sleep habits like? Go to bed the same time every day? Tend to worry about stuff? All that stuff will have to be addressed too, with or without medication.
