I have been having some success with the David Pal entrainment device. It gets me to sleep now. I got 5 hours last night on it, with no wakeups and could have fallen asleep again. It definitely changes the brain waves. It takes me 45 minutes on the machine to fall asleep, so I can use in the middle of the night if I wake up. It takes some practice and getting used to. It's a matter or how long a person with insomnia can sustain the proper brain waves generated by the machine. I think if there is a lot of anxiety or something disturbing the delta or theta brain waves, you can't stay asleep. I had an issue with too much cortisol and nothing would work then. I'll say it again in case it helps any other female insomniacs out there...if you're on the birth control pill, try stopping it for 3 months and see how you sleep!
