How long to get off Ambien?

Hey guys!
Tonight will be my 6th night to be off of ambien. I have been on it way too many years (4 or 5). When should I expect my sleep to get better? I was awake most of the night last night, with some anxiety. I stayed in bed, and I do believe I'm practicing good sleep habits.
Just wondering when it gets better after getting off of ambien.
