I think your overall psychology definitely affects your sleep and vice versa. So I agree it makes sense to work on yourself to see if you can improve both problems.

Be careful choosing a psychologist. Unfortunately, and present company like cairo excepted, many of them have more problems than you do :-). You want a coach and someone who will support you.

If you are into books and have read this forum, you know that many of us recommend "Say good night to insomnia" by Gregg Jacobs. In the end chapters he discusses building up your self-esteem. Also good for general problems are any of the "Feeling good" books by David Burns. There are several books with similar titles.
