help with early awakening!

i just don't know what to do...I've had poor sleep all my adult life, but never have had the 'pleasure' of awakening early. When i do awaken early, it's around 6 or 7a.m. (early for me), and then when i do return to sleep (i usually do after an hour) it's fragmented, light, and thus i have no hope of having a restful night's sleep! I used to have that chance when i slept through the night, at least.

Has anyone found anything particularly helpful, when awakening early? I don't feel i'm overly anxious about it...My body just feels 'awake', though not nervous, and if i do get up the energy only lasts a couple of hours--so, i know my body's not ready to be awake yet.

Do i need to just accept it? I really can't get through my days well..Always lying down (or trying to) to alleviate the sleep deprivation. I'm thinking about quitting my job and going somewhere for a few months where i can be totally (or relatively) stress free, and seeing if that makes a difference!

So frustrating. Any advice is welcome! Thank you.
