"one or a combination of iron supplements, requip, mirapex, sinemt, klonopin, codeine, oxycodon, or neurontin."

LOL. This is an outrageous cocktail. They can't be serious but I am afraid they are. Do some research on RLS. There is a lot of controversy about whether it is a 'real' disorder.

Just because you get a "sleep study" doesn't mean it's real. It's done under totally artificial conditions. I know I sure as heck would not sleep at all or no way normally in a strange room with people staring at me while hooked up to a bunch of wires.

I think you have to be an informed consumer of medical advice. If someone prescribes medicine, read up on it. Ask questions. Discuss your findings with the doctor. Most of them are happy to do it if you are reasonable and objective.

Try the simple stuff first. With sleep, it's the usual:
-trust your body's ability to sleep. If you don't sleep well for a few nights, go on about your life and think about something else.
-get plenty of exercise even if you don't sleep. I find a session about two hours before I go to bed helps tremendously.
-go to bed and get up at the same time, even if you sleep poorly or not at all. If you can't fall asleep and are getting stressed about it, get up and read or meditate or whatever relaxes you. Then go back to bed and give yourself a chance to fall asleep.
-keep your bedroom dark, quiet and at a comfortable temperature. Don't keep a clock where you can check it constantly while in bed.
