Posted by electracat on February 05, 2008 at 17:50:47:hi, i've suffered with severe daytime fatigue (or sleepiness) as a result of poor quality sleep, Without going into all the things i've tried, i'd just like to focus on one thing right now: My daytime sleepiness...
I know one tenet of CBT, regarding sleep, is to tell oneself that "so what if i'm tired, i can get through the day", or "what's the worst that can happen"; well, with my sleepiness, it just gets worse throughout the day until i cannot bear it...I literally have to lie down and close my eyes, the tension/burning/ discomfort is so bad. Not always easy to do this, so i lie down on the bathroom floor, or i ask to go home from work. It stinks!! I actually fear it. And, if i ignore it, try to 'push through it', it doesn't alleviate...It gets to the point where i *can't* sleep though i'm in so much discomfort, and then i can't sleep well that night, either! I can't describe the discomfort. It's not like i can lie on the couch and watch tv--i have to sleep (or try to). NOTHING ELSE will alleviate the discomfort of being so tired.
Does this sound familar to anyone? Just wondering if i'm super-sensitive to sleepiness, or if mine is just so severe.
Thanks for any advice. I"m currently tapering off klonopin (been on it 10 years, and it hasn't made noticable difference, and i'm on remeron.
