A Schizophrenic.... who cant sleep

Posted by sudani on June 24, 2008 at 20:14:31:

Hi, this is my second time posting. I am a 28 yr. old male who has had Schizophrenia since the age of 15. I am now recovering with some of the symptoms(negative symptoms). I have tried many medications to help me sleep, even the best ones, but no luck. My psychiatrist thought it might be the illness, so we tried a more aggressive antipsychotic(clozapine). Unfortunately i had no luck. I am currently taking 200mg of seroquel and Risperdal(5mg). I am a very cool, calm person who doesnt worry or get anxious over the littlest things. My illness manifested from severe anxiety and depression at the age of 15. I am currently anxiety free. When i go to bed, i dont have any racing thoughts or worries. I just cant fall asleep. I do see a sleep specialist, and i had an overnight sleep study at a hospital. I was diagnosed as having a mild/moderat Sleep Apnea. So i borrowed the CPAP machine for a trial. It does help with breathing, but i still cant fall asleep. The CPAP is designed for breathing, not to help you fall asleep. I really dont know, what else to do. I still continue to live my life, but i cant fully embrace it without sleep. Please..... any comments or suggestions are welcome.
