I don't take sleep medicine, I take Remeron, which is an antidepressant (though not a great one) which seems to help many people with sleep. I've only tried one sleep medicine (Rozerem) and I HATED the way it made me feel...I felt drugged.

I feel that some of us do need antidepressants and/or benzos to sleep and that a low dose won't hurt you. I do have a friend who has chronic sleep problems and every now and then she uses Ambien but she doesn't sweat it or worry about and most of the time she just gets by with not enough sleep.

I just hate the blanket assumption that all meds are bad, regardless of type of med or type of insomnia. I think that is a gross generalization and it just causes stress for people who choose to use them. If you don't want to-fine. But those who do should not be made to believe they are doing something "wrong" or "bad" because they use medication to sleep.
