Hi Zoe, thanks for the feedback. A few years ago, when i couldnt sleep, i had an obsession of finding a cure for my insomnia. I would spend hours on the internet, desperately searching for a cure. Unfortunately that led me to nowhere. I did see a CBT therapist at that time, on a regular basis to help keep me on the road to recovery. I also had a nurse, sleep specialist, psychiatrist, and family members who were all part of my support team, and still currently do see them on a regular basis. I've tried many medications such as Lorazepam, clonazepam, Imovane, Remeron,Melatonin, and other natural remedies, which have all failed. My psychiatrist always keeps me up to date on new medications that have come out. At my last appointment my psychiatrist had mentioned that there is a new sleep medication which came out. But unfortunately it is not covered by my disability pension, and he said he will order some free samples for me to try for a while. I have forgotten its name, but i'm hoping for the best, since i havent had much luck with other meds. I will be seeing my sleep specialist for a follow-up to my CPAP trial, and see what recommendations he has for me. All in all i think i'm on the right track to overcoming insomnia, but sometimes i get frustrated, angry and depressed when i havent slept for many days in a row. Sometimes, in my case it feels hopeless, and question my self-esteem. I just dont understand why the medications i have tried works for most people, and not me. This leaves my pyschiatrist in a puzzled state of mind. He says i am a unique case, which i find is true. However, i still remain optimistic.
