I think you'll find most here who have recovered suggest thinking/worrying less about sleep in order to have it come to them easier.
I notice I rarely think about sleep (other than the usual "I'm tired, can't wait to go to bed") except when I'm not getting it. You're correct in your thinking that the more you obsess about how much sleep you get, the less sleep will come your way.
Heck, I only averaged 5 hrs the past two days, but it's not bothering me because I felt fine at work and only got really tired when it was close to bedtime.
I suggest putting the journal away now that you're past the critical stages of your insomnia and only refer back to it when you need encouragement.
