Question about meds

Posted by optimistic on December 05, 2008 at 15:47:42:

I have been on meds a long time for sleep - especially amitriptyline and some other tranquilizers and someone had mentioned what are the toxic effects for long term - meaning years of having to take medication which I have - I am 65 years old now and probably have been taking different meds for 40 years - obviously, I'm still here and alive - nothing major happening to my organs except a breast cancer that was caught very early but other than that I have never asked a doctor but when I go see my psych dr next Monday for a meds check I am going to ask him - have ANY of you ever asked your doctors the long-term effects of taking meds for so many years? Good question to ask - anyway, am wondering what the rest of you have come up with - thanks for your time.
