Hi sleepymom,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. It is very hard indeed to have the patience and courage at 3 pm after trying to sleep for over 4-5 hours and not succeeding. Don't beat yourself up about being anxious at 3 am.

But try to change your attitude gradually. If you are still doing exactly the same thing next week, then you are not doing yourself any favors. Yes, it's hard, but so what? Just because it's hard to accept doesn't mean you give up! You want to beat this thing right? Try this trick : your goal every night is not to sleep, it is simply to rest your body in a comfortable position with your eyes closed. That's it. Then you won't put this unrealistic pressure on yourself to sleep. Forget about sleeping. Your goal every night is to rest. And your sleep will eventually come back once you stop pressuring yourself so much.

Come on, you can do it.

Best,
-Sam
