Sleep labs generally are not going to advertise, "come in anytime for a study". They discourage it, however, if they are an accredited sleep lab they will be aware of the need to do studies on the patients schedule and will do so when needed.

There are many different responses to sleep apnea. One is laying there awake not being able to go to sleep. One theory is the body is aware of what happens in sleep and wants to avoid the not breathing problem. Not as common to excessive sleepiness with short periods of sleep with arousal's.

I wouldn't worry about the sleep apnea. Schedule an appointment for an insomnia evaluation and go from there.

Best wishes,
