how to break this cycle over sleep

Posted by newmom08 on November 23, 2008 at 17:09:14:

Hi all,

I am new to this forum.I have been having sleeping issues for the past 5 months. It all started when I was abt 7 months pregnant. Did not sleep for a couple of days and then I got scared about insomnia and have been suffering from anxiety from then on. Met a psychiatrist who asked me to take 75mg nortriptyline. That has been helping me for the past 2 months but it has not helped me in reducing my anxiety. This medicine is causing excessive daytime drowsiness plus other side effects. I want to wean myself from this drug but am very scared about insomina. Also I am scared to join back to work because of this medicine as well as my insomnia. I got into a cycle of anxiety and am just not able to get away from this. Sorry for the long rant. Could someone advise as what I need to do..how do I break this cycle..Also is it possible to ever get back to my old self..i have been a pretty good sleeper before this anxiety over sleep came on..thanks much!
