I got tested for Fatal Insomnia!

So I couldn't stand not knowing if I had Fatal Insomnia or not, so I went to Canada and got myself a PET scan (the only definitive way to identify Fatal Insomnia). It was kind of a crazy trip - I almost drove off the road in the snow, my hotel got evacuated because of a fire, and I got detained at the border because the radioactive dye from the PET scan set off the detectors!

In any case, the scan came back negative. My thalamus showed up on the scan, which means I don't have Fatal Insomnia. So I know that I'm going to live. Incidentally, I started sleeping a bit better right after getting the scan.

The lesson here is: you don't have Fatal Insomnia. If you did, you'd be stumbling around having delusions instead of posting on internet message boards. If you're really just that worried about it, like I was, you can always go to Canada and shell out $2000 for a PET scan, but if you're sensible, you won't.

So you're all going to live, and be just fine. Take it from me.
